Not Supersized by the Force of the Storm | Oil on Canvas | Elizabeth Ivy

If you’ve ever looked at your life and wondered, Is this it?

If you’ve ever confused what hasn’t happened with what can’t happen, you know how quietly possibility can disappear.

If you’ve ever talked yourself out of something before giving life a chance to answer, you know how convincing an old story can sound.

If you’ve ever become so good at protecting yourself that you aren’t sure whether you’re being wise or simply afraid, you know what it feels like to close.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re too old, too late, too far behind, too disappointed, or too realistic to begin again you know why I’m interested in what happens next…

We Close. Experience teaches us shortcuts. Hurt teaches us protection. Success teaches us control. Fear teaches us prediction. Eventually, the patterns that once protected us can begin limiting us.

Just Stay Open is the space between what has already happened and what might happen next. What happens when a woman has very good reasons to close and chooses to stay open anyway?

The odds may be real. The losses are. Limitation may be real. And possibility can still be real, too.

“You may be right about the odds. But the odds don’t get to become my imagination.”

Something new begins January 2027

PROJECT: The Just Stay Open Dare

Season: The Just Stay Open Year

Invitation / Benediction: Dare to Believe Unlimited Possibilities Still Exist

This project lives in the space between acknowledging the odds and refusing to let the odds become the final story.

This year is not about proving that a particular future is guaranteed. It is about becoming curious enough to discover whether the story is finished.

I’m Elizabeth Ivy. And I’m writing my way through this project not to see if every desired outcome arrives.

But what if? What if practices I’ve learned teaching art and creativity when applied to a lived life experiment do the same for life? What if more life, more attention, creativity, courage, beauty, relationship, faith, curiosity, and evidence that possibility remained after certainty had tried to close the door?

Maybe you don’t need to know what happens next.

Maybe you just need to stay open long enough to find out.

Just Stay Open. Unlimited Possibilities Still Exist.
